Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation

The Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation was founded in November 2007 to fulfill the wish of Chung Mong-Koo, the chairman of
Hyundai Motor Group, “to care for the underprivileged while raising a ladder of hope for youth in our society.”
We aim to carry out his philanthropic philosophy in a variety of fields, including “education for future leaders”, “support for the
underprivileged”, and “promotion of arts and culture.”

Main Projects

Over the past decade (as at the end of 2017), the Hyundai Motors Chung Mong-Koo Foundation invested KRW 138.9 billion
in corporate social responsibility initiatives, directly or indirectly reaching the lives of 540,000 people.

  • Education for Future Leaders

    Education for Future Leaders

    The Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation operates the “OnDream Future Technology Scholarship” to identify university
    students who will lead future industries. In addition, we provide education for students in rural communities through the “OnDream
    Elementary School.”
    This program nurtures students’ capabilities for creativity and creative art and helps eliminate the education gap between urban
    and rural communities.

    Culture Project

    The Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation helps skilled

    Social Project

    The Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation operates
    tailored support programs to help neglected children,
    including immigrated youth, children of North Korean
    defectors, and children requiring protection, settle into
    Korean society.
    In addition, we provide medical treatment through medical
    support and social rehabilitation projects at home and abroad.

Hyundai Motor Company Smile Microcredit Bank

Based on the financial resources donated by Hyundai Motor Group, the Hyundai Motor Group Smile Microcredit Bank provides
financial and start-up consulting that can lay the foundation for social and economic independence for those who are unable to
use financial institutions.

The Bank offers low-interest loans without collateral or guarantees for funds required in managing businesses or
making security deposits for houses. In doing so, it eliminates any blind spots overlooked by our financial system
and stabilizes the financial conditions of working-class families.

    The Hyundai Motor Group Smile Microcredit Bank operates a
    total of 11 branches in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and other areas. In
    2019, the bank funded KRW 23.6 billion won to 2,428 people,
    receiving an award from the Korea Inclusive Finance Agency
    for its outstanding work.

  • Livelihood Support for the Working Class

    Livelihood Support for the Working Class

    The Hyundai Motor Group Smile Microcredit Bank, in
    cooperation with the Korea Inclusive Financial Agency, helps
    underprivileged people through job counseling, financial
    education, and business consulting.

  • Participation in Korea Inclusive Finance Agency’s Digital Innovation Project

    We combined forces to develop a mobile application and a paperless bank counter for the Korea Inclusive Finance Agency, so that
    people can receive convenient financial counseling anytime and anywhere.
    We received an award in recognition of our contribution.
