Kia Motors is heading into sports marketing starting with its official sponsorship of the “2001 Seoul International Olympic Expo”. The event takes place at the Olympic Park in Seoul for 7 days from May 1st.
After the company was announced as the main sponsor for the event, the Kia management said that they planned to concentrate on sports marketing to enhance corporate image as well as brand awareness.
The “2001 Seoul International Olympic Expo” is held by the Seoul Olympic Sports Promotion Foundation under the auspices of IOC and KOC. As an event being prepared to commemorate the centenary of the Olympic Games, it provides a variety of cultural events including exhibitions, parades and open-air performances. Major events include the Olympic Souvenir Exhibition where collections of commemorative stamps, coins and medals are exhibited, the International Sports Products Exhibition participated in by some of the world’s top sportswear companies, opening of the ‘88 Seoul Olympic Games Hall and a special exhibition in commemoration of the IOC centenary.
Meanwhile, Kia plans to open a 300 square meter showroom in the park to display four of its best sellers: Optima Winner, Carnival II, New Rio and Spectra.
Starting with the evening celebration on April 30th, the “2001 Seoul International Olympic Expo” will continue for six more days with participants from 30 countries. A total of one million people were visited Olympic Park during the event.
