Kia Carnival, Test Drive for European Press Corps
- 183 car reporters from 13 European countries were invited to create anticipation for the new model car, Carnival.
- Goal for exports to European continent this year set at 11,500 cars, with next year’s target to be increased to 22,460 cars
Kia Motors invited European car reporters to Malaga, Spain for a presentation meeting for Carnival (European model) and test drive of the new cars from the 24th to 27th of last month.
With 183 professional automotive journalists from 13 countries, including Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and France, Kia successfully held its presentation meeting for the new model at the Byblos Hotel, Byblos, Malaga, Spain. The journalists, who, upon disembarking from the plane in Malaga Airport, were each handed the key to the car assigned to them and invited to test drive the car to their hotel, had very positive comments regarding the cars.
“The cars we test drove were upgraded considerably from the previous Carnival we had tried and the prices were much lower, considering the overall performance of the cars. These cars will be very popular with consumers,” were common comments of the reporters.
“Carnival has had a rush of orders in home markets and overseas as well. The original production target of 127,000 cars was readjusted to 160,000 cars, by running the production lines round the clock, and allowing workers overtime and special bonus hours. But we are still not able to fully satisfy our clients’ orders. Furthermore, those staff in contact with overseas dealers want ordered cars out of the way as early as possible to avoid dunning telephone calls. Under the circumstances, drastically expanded production capacity may be the only answer”, one of the staff engaged in export of the cars added.
Meanwhile, Carnival will start to be shipped to Europe from October. The export target for this year is 11,500 cars and next year’s export target is 22, 460 cars.
