Kia Motors set a new record in its history for exported vehicles in the past year with a total of 599,020 vehicles (124,392 KD included), revealed on January 3. The new annual record is a 9.4% year-on-year increase from 547,581 vehicles (which was a new annual record at that time).
Thus, the vehicle manufacturer posted 990,804 vehicles in total sales including those in the domestic market and this was the first time that the share of exports (60.5%) in total sales for Kia exceeded 60%.
As a result of adding Optima and Sedona (also named Carnival) in the items exported to North America, in addition to the existing Sephia and Sportage) exported to that region in 2001, came to 256,000 vehicles, a 47% year-on-year increase. The manufacturer says that such a vigorous performance in sales in the region was mainly due to its emphasis on stronger quality assurance (10 Year - 100,000 mile Warranty).
