- Kia Carnival / Sedona ranked top MPV by AutoPacific
SEOUL 7 May 2002 - Leading U.S-based automotive marketing and product consulting firm AutoPacific named the Kia Carnival / Sedona the top MPV in its 2002 Vehicle Satisfaction Score roundup. This was Kia`s first ever VSS award and contributes to Kia`s growing reputation for providing high quality, good value automobiles.
According to AutoPacific, its annual VSS ratings record satisfaction with vehicles overall, as well as in 43 specific areas related to the vehicle`s operation, comfort, safety and purchase/lease experience. Ratings reflect input from over 34,000 owners of new vehicles acquired September-November 2001. The scores are provided as a free service by the North American Consultancy.
AutoPacific founder and president George Peterson commented, "On a brand level, Kia may understand better than any other manufacturer that minivans are an intensely value-driven segment, and Sedona`s strong reception and success is based on its inherent value. Let the others charge $30K, $35K or more for their minivans; Kia is redefining the segment."
Elsewhere in the VSS report, The Kia Optima ranked second in the Mid-size Car segment behind the Hyundai Sonata, with which it shares a platform, and the Sportage ranked fifth in the Compact Sport Utility segment.
Mark Juhn, senior executive vice president and COO of Kia Motors Corporation said of the AutoPacific report, "This is a very important result for Kia Motors. The Carnival / Sedona is one of our top selling vehicles worldwide and exemplifies Kia`s commitment to proving world-class vehicles at exceptional value. The VSS report validates what we have been saying all along ?that quality and value can go hand in hand. I am confident that new vehicles such as the Sorento SUV and the updated Carens mini-MPV will prove equally successful."
