- Total sales figures show 12.7% increase over August 2001
SEOUL 16 September 2002 -Sales data for the month of August show significant growth for Kia Motors Corporation in both the domestic and overseas markets.
Kia sold 93,465 vehicles in August, of which 51,194 (54.7%) were exports. The sales record shows a 66.9% increase over the previous month and a 12.7% increase over August 2001.
Export sales were particularly strong, showing an 80.6% increase over July and a 5.4% increase over the previous August. Domestic sales were up 52.8% over July and 23.1% over August 2001.
The top selling export markets for August were the United States (23,564), Canada (2,628) Germany (2,001 and Australia (1,069). Top selling models were:

Senior executive vice president Mark Juhn, Kia`s chief operating officer said, "Kia continues to show that world class quality and real value pricing are not mutually exclusive. Despite a difficult global automotive industry environment, we are continuing to post solid gains. The success of the Sorento and the New Carens in the domestic market bode well for their contribution to Kia`s global sales in the remainder of the year."
