A survey has found that employees of Amco, Hyundai Motor Group’s construction company think that they need not necessarily exchange chocolates on Valentine’s day.
Amco, Hyundai Motor Group’s construction company (Representative Director: Kim Chang-hee. www.amco.co.kr) conducted a survey from February 2 to 13 before Valentine's day. Among those surveyed who were in their 20s to 40s, 260 said that they don’t think that exchanging chocolate is a must on Valentine's day.
‘A ring and other accessories’ topped the list of the most-wanted gifts for Valentine's day, with 27% of respondents picking the item. Perfume came in second as it was chosen by 23% respondents. It indicates the gifts for Valentine is shifting from chocolate to other products over time.
For the question, ‘What do you think the meaning of Valentine's day is?’, 55% of people said, “it is a day to share hearts and minds with family or a girl/boy friend’, indicating the day has become a day for sharing love.
Furthermore, regarding the question, ‘What do you think about accepting Western culture indiscriminately?’, 71% said they are against the practice, noting that Valentine's day should be transformed to fit for Korean culture and modernized.
As for the types of dates they want to enjoy on Valentine's day, 42% of respondents said they want to have happy time at a cafe or a restaurant. The survey also found out that Valentine's day has been settled into a chance for male and female employees to open their hearts.
The survey was conducted by the editing office of Amco’s corporate magazine, “Love for Amco” for a special feature for spring, a season for blossoming love. In the future, the company will select a timely subject and conduct survey, continuously breeding energy into your life at workplace.
