AMCO, a general construction company of the Hyundai Motor Group of Companies (Representative Director: Kim, Chang Hee. www.amco.co.kr) announced on the 12th that total of 5,400 applicants submitted application in the regular open recruitment for new recruits for year 2008, resulting in competition ratio of 180:1.
This is more than 3-fold the average competition ratio for employment for Korean companies (survey by career portal specializing in employment) in the latter half of 2007. In addition, this is the highest competition ratio since the incorporation of the company that exceeds the competition ratio of 110:1 resulted in the first open recruitment for new recruits by AMCO in 2005.
Recruitment was made in 6 areas including construction, civil engineering, electrical, facility, safety and management support. Applications were received through company’s internet website since October 23.
More than 50 consultation mails from applicants were received through customer inquires in the company’s website and email address of the personnel in charge of personnel management. In particular, more than 2,600 applications were received on the last day for submission of application.
AMCO, beginning in the middle of November, is planning to conduct in-depth interviews including presentation and English interview for each area of recruitment after having completed preliminary documentary screening of the application, and individually notify the final successful applicants by the middle of December.
Mr. Kim, Hyung Wook, the manager of personnel management team of AMCO, stated that “the level of recognition of the company increased rapidly due to active promotion of the company and enabled us to achieve unanticipated high level of competition ratio for application even though we did not pursue campus recruiting that we had been doing in the previous years.” He further stated that “we shall continue to select outstanding competent personnel and cultivate them into globally competent personnel who will be able to play core role in progress of the company.“
AMCO is continuing to increase its popularity amongst university students as preferred place of employment, with consistently high competition ratio in excess of 100:1 in application in open recruitment for new recruits that the company executes annually since 2005, including 110:1 in 2005 and 105:1 in 2006.
