Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) is becoming more and more important in managing a company. Going beyond the basic role of creating profits, consumer well-being and environmental efforts are gaining more speed. As a greater number of companies are publishing reports with such activities, the importance of CSR is once again being highlighted.
MOBIS has published an 86-page sustainability report, which contains the company’s performance in environment, society and economic activities, under the name ‘Beautiful Companionship, First Steps of Hope’. Through this, MOBIS releases information on its major activities to stakeholders to realize sustainable management. The company thus contributes to the sustainable development of corporations and people through self-reflection.
The report’s contents include Corporate Overview, Society, Environment and Economy and shows information on MOBIS’s mutual cooperation, social contributions, green management, management performance and sales for the past year.
MOBIS Vice-President Chung Suk-soo wrote that ‘MOBIS has been active in many areas like reducing greenhouse gases, developing green auto parts, developing green cars for the future, mutual cooperation with partner corporations and various volunteer work.’ He also pledged to ‘become a Global Top 5 auto parts company that contributes to the sustainable development society and that is respected by the community. This goal will be achieved through the ‘innovation DNA’ that is deeply rooted across the entire management spectrum.”
MOBIS has put together a new team in June of 2009 to conduct 78 indicator analyses for internationally recognized GRI G3 guidelines and created the report by benchmarking other companies in Korea. This was then certified by Two Tomorrows, a UK-based global certification institution. In the coming May, the English-version will also be published so promote the company’s work in social responsibility to employees and buyers overseas.
Through surveys and interviews with corporate partners, parts dealers, customers, investors and employees, MOBIS determined the main issues for sustainable management and carried out crucial assessments. Especially, transparent corporate activities based on mutual cooperation support programs and trust with partners and dealers were described in detail. MOBIS’s efforts to combat climate change and attempts to create green, high-efficiency technology and reducing greenhouse gases were also thoroughly illustrated.
Scholarships for child victims of traffic accidents and volunteer work for the poor, as well as interviews with volunteer groups and recipients are also presented on the report. MOBIS aims to do more regarding such activities in the future to become a ‘respected social corporation’ in the community.
