Amid the lingering global recession, Hyundai E&C is set to speed up its effort for overseas expansion by collecting ideas and capabilities at a corporate level. Korea’s primary builder had meetings with overseas project managers and general managers of overseas branches for four days from August 22 to praise executives and staff members working overseas for their hard work and share the visions and values of Hyundai E&C. On August 22, project managers from 27 overseas construction sites and general managers from 8 overseas branches participated in a business strategy workshop, attended by executives at the head office. Next day, they paid visits to workplaces of Hyundai Motor Group’s affiliate companies. On August 24 and 25, they took part in hands-on cultural activities and a dinner party with their spouse held in Jeju Island. Starting with an opening speech by vice chairman Kim Chang-hee, the business strategy workshop focused on problems facing the construction sites and branches at the forefront of Hyundai E&C’s overseas businesses and improvements to be made. During the roughly 11-hour long meeting, the participants set forth a diversity of views ranging from impending issues including sales increase and supply and demand of workforce, materials and equipments to exploitation of new markets and content development to increase competitiveness in receiving orders. The workshop was all the more meaningful because it served as a venue for construction sites, head office and branches to gather at one place, so that they could rapidly seek out solutions and pledge to realize transparent management and have a sense of vocation.
