Hyundai’s HD-series commercial vehicles debut in the European market
HD models powered by Hyundai’s `F Engine,’ boasting best-in-class performance & meeting Euro 5 emission standards
(Seoul, Korea) Hyundai Motor Company took its first steps to enter the commercial vehicle market in Western Europe with the launch of its HD-series mid-sized truck (HD55 and HD65) in Spain and Portugal. In Korea, the truck is known as `Mighty.’
The HD series rollout was held in Madrid, Spain on Tuesday and was attended by more than 120 people, including Hyundai Motor Vice Chairman H.Y. Choi, the South Korean Ambassador to Spain, members of the press and prospective buyers and dealers.
The HD series model has been Korea’s best-selling light truck since its launch in 1997. It is now sold in more than 100 nations and has received high reviews for its quality and reliability. The European model is a customized version of the original Mighty, catering to the specific needs of European customers. Hyundai conducted exhaustive surveys and test drives to meet the high safety standards of the European market.
“We are very happy to introduce our HD series to the European commercial vehicle market, which has both strong demand and growth potential,” Vice Chairman Choi said at the launching ceremony. “We aim to establish a differentiated and comprehensive service network, as well as introduce more models, to maximize customers’ satisfaction and expand our market share in the future.”
The model launched yesterday is powered by Hyundai’s proprietary F-engine, which meets the Euro 5 emission standards and boasts a best-in-class 118 kw (160 horsepower) with 588 Nm (60 kg·m) of torque.
The HD series’ successful debut in the Iberian Peninsula is expected to serve as a springboard for making inroads into other significant markets in Europe. Hyundai plans to hold test drives and exhibitions of HD trucks throughout Spain to display the outstanding performance and wide variety of Hyundai’s commercial vehicles.
