Headquarters’ Building of Hyundai Motors in Yangjae-dong won the honor of receiving Grand Prize in Korea FM Competition in Facilities Management Division. Hyundai AMCO(Representative Director: Sohn, Hyo Won. www.hyundai-amco.co.kr) that constructed the Headquarters’ Building of Hyundai Motors in Yangjae-dong received the Grand Prize in Facilities Management Division at the Korea FM Competition awarding ceremony held on the 2nd at the Hoam Professor’s Hall at Seoul National University. Headquarters’ Building of Hyundai Motors in Yangjae-dong received particularly high scores in the areas of management perspectives, space for work and support as well as rest spaces, which are the evaluation criteria. The subjects of the evaluation for the division of facility management and administration organized by the Korea FM Academy included buildings with total floor area of more than 6,000㎡ that has been completed more than 3 years ago, and award is given to owner of the building with excellent management administration. Mr. Kim, Yong Gu, executive director of assets management business department of Hyundai AMCO, stated that “we expect the external level of recognition of our ability on asset management business will increase” and that “receiving this grand prize is highly significant in that professionalism in our asset management, which is one of our strengths, is being recognized externally.” The Korea FM Academy is an prestigious institution with authority in the area of buildings established in 1995 with the goal of carrying out R&D activities to provide pleasant and efficient work environment by effectively utilizing fixed assets of companies including buildings. The Headquarters’ Building of Hyundai Motors was completed by Hyundai AMCO at the end of 2006. The construction period was shortened by about 6 months by applying modulization engineering technique which at the time was unprecedented. Modulization engineering technique is a concrete construction technology with outstanding earthquake resistance and free utilization of space including the interior. It has the advantage of improved quality and reduction in waste matters since the majority of materials is processed and manufactured in advance at external factories and simply assembled on the site.
