“Global Hyundai, Technology Hyundai! It is not a slogan of the past.” Hyundai E&C CEO Jung Soo-hyun has announced that this year’s management objective is to become an engineering-based global construction leader and encouraged its management and staff members to make 2012 a year for the company to take another leap following Hyundai Motor Group’s acquisition. On January 3, Hyundai E&C held a kick-off meeting for New Year attended by about 600 management and staff members including Hyundai E&C CEO Jung and CEOs of its affiliate companies in the head quarters in Gye-dong and took the first step to transform itself into a global leading construction company. In his presentation, Jung delivered a New Year’s address and management strategies for 2012 and stressed that management always entails uncertainty. He also encouraged management and staff members, saying that a crisis is an opportunity for growth amid rapidly changing market conditions if they are fully capable of managing and handling the crisis. In addition, Jung announced that this year’s key objectives are to establish business foundation for future growth, develop global business capability and establish a risk management system. To this end, he introduced detailed action plans such as expansion of core technologies; nurturing talent and strengthening competitiveness; establishment of a global system; diversification of overseas markets; ensuring internal stability centered on efficiency; and establishment of a risk management system. Furthermore, Jung asked management and staff members to be active in participating in forging trust relationship and communication and taking a win-win approach and corporate social responsibility.
