CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), an activity that a company carries out in order to fulfill its social responsibility beyond its basic role of creating profit, is now considered essential for companies to continue to exist sustainably. Recently, there has been an increasing number of companies that have been looking at CSV (Creating Shared Value), a way of creating shared value through taking consideration of the nature of a particular business.
On June 18, MOBIS published its 2012 sustainability report entitled Beautiful Companionship: Discovering the Value of Being Together, which details the company’s social, environmental and business activities that have been conducted over the past year.
Since 2010, MOBIS has published a sustainability report to share its management strategy for achieving the vision of becoming a 2020 Global Top 5. The vision embraces all aspects of MOBIS’ performance in economic, social and environmental activities and promises a more sustainable future.
The third issue of MOBIS’s sustainable report is devoted mainly to the propriety projects that have been set up as part of an effort towards creating sustainable business, as well as looking at MOBIS’ achievements over the past three years and the current state of people and technology oriented sustainable activities, including training programs for talented personnel who can lead the future, and advancement based on the development of core technology.
To this end, MOBIS conducted surveys and carried out interviews with customers, partners, authorized agencies, stockholders, investors and staff members, and also presented the a more personal look at leading MOBIS figures, including the MOBIS CEO, by question-and-answer features looking at personal interests and opinion to boost company-wide communication.
In this report, detailed data on the company’s performance is set out by section, including the current state of staff, environmental performance (greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption, etc.) and customers (quality index, customer satisfaction index), according to GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) guidelines.
In particular, the report selected and presented the main topics which have an influence on both the company and society as a whole, such as ▲ global talented personnel training program, ▲ investment in research collaboration, research and development ▲ the present condition of eco-friendly low carbon emission parts development and enterprise-level support and ▲ the expansion of strategic social activities.
Plus, the report was drawn up with Samjong KPMG, which help secure reliability with regards to the publication process. It was published in English and Chinese in order to reinforce communication with interested parties across the world.
“MOBIS has conducted all kinds of voluntary services and various activities, including an intensification of its technical competitive strength in eco-friendly areas, the reinforcement of global marketing for its A/S parts business and win-win cooperation with partners. MOBIS will continue to fulfill its social responsibility in good faith, communicate with interested parties, and respect and grow together with them,” said Jeon Hoseok, the President of MOBIS, in his publication remarks.
Meanwhile, MOBIS has developed and promoted specialized social programs based upon the nature of MOBIS’s business according to Hyundai Motor’s main contributions to society, Top 4 Moves, ▲Safe Move(traffic safety), ▲Green Move(contributions to environment and society), ▲Happy Move(volunteer service), ▲Easy Move(convenient mobility for the disabled). Bubble Umbrella Donation for the Children’s Transportation Safety (Safe Move), which has been promoted solely by MOBIS since 2010, and MOBIS Forest (Green Move), started in 2012, are two notable examples of MOBIS’s social programs.
