Hyundai E&C has been officially recognized as Korea’s most leading construction company once again. According to a July 30 report on construction capability for 2012 released by the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs, Hyundai E&C topped a list of construction companies for the fourth consecutive years. Except in 1964 and the period from 2004 to 2007, Korea’s primary builder has remained No. 1 since 1962 when the government began to publish the maximum amount of construction capability within which companies are allowed to take projects, which enabled the company to remain the undisputed leader that has propped up the industry for half a century. The construction capability evaluation, which is used by customers searching for construction company, measures companies’ construction contracts, business management, technical levels and credit worthiness. The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs publishes the result each year at the end of July. This year, the government evaluated 10,540 local construction companies. Hyundai E&C ranked No. 1 in its construction capability for this year with 11.7108 trillion won, an increase of approximately 600 billion won compared to last year. Hyundai E&C was the leader in three categories such as construction contracts, business management and technical levels, widening the gap with Samsung Construction & Trading by earning 1.6106 trillion more than the second-place company. Hyundai E&C stood out among its peers in all areas by topping civil engineering building and civil engineering categories at 6.2308 trillion won and 2.9549 trillion won and ranking the second in building construction and industrial and environmental facility constructions at 3.2760 trillion won and 4.5124 trillion won, respectively.
