Hyundai E&C pledged to weather the continuing global economic recession by taking a measure of “sailing against the wind.”
Korea’s primary builder held a global strategy meeting for 2013 in the headquarters on February 6 and 7 and embarked on coming up with ways of dealing with risks to survive global business environments and a roadmap designed to expand overseas markets.
With the attendance of about 100 participants including 22 overseas project managers and 12 regional directors, the meeting included discussions of each business divisions, followed by reports on pending issues facing overseas construction sites and branches, discussions among groups and divisional presentations on business strategies. In the 10hour marathon meeting on February 7, the participants had a heated discussion over solutions to the issues facing the overseas projects and measures to support the effort for market expansion and set up detailed goals in the medium to longer term to lay the foundation for future growth.
“I believe we’ll solidify our position as a global leader by continuing our sweeping upturn this year,” CEO Jung Soohyun encouraged the company’s employees. “As we carried out a reshuffle for respective divisions at the end of last year to secure new growth engines, this year we are fully poised to achieve our common goals with thorough plans for the ever diversifying market.”
