Hyundai Motor Company, Unveils Hydrogen Commercial Mobility Vision at ACT Expo 2023

HMC premiered the commercialized model of its Class 8 fuel cell electric tractor in the U.S.! North America' s largest advanced transportation technology and clean fleet event, “ACT Expo 2023,” was held in California, U.S., from May 1 to 4. At this expo, HMC newly introduced the 'XCIENT Fuel Cell tractor.' This trucks is a 37.2–ton hydrogen electric 6x4 tractor model, specifically designed for long–haul driving in North America and offers a driving range of over 450 miles per charge even when fully loaded. At the expo, HMC exhibited the XCIENT Fuel Cell 6x4 tractor and the hydrogen fuel cell system and also operated an XCIENT Fuel Cell 'Ride Drive' test drive program for local media and industry officials. Furthermore, through a press conference, it emphasized that the formation of a ‘hydrogen value chain’, covering hydrogen supply, leasing and financing, fleet operation, maintenance, and service, is the core and future vision of its North American eco–friendly commercial vehicle business. To this end, HMC aims to foster local partnerships and future business seamlessly and leverage the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA), the dedicated vehicle factory being built in Georgia, as a new business test bed. For a sustainable society, HMG plans to work on building clean mobility and a ‘hydrogen value chain’.
