Kia has officially launched its new dedicated electric vehicle, the Kia EV3, to the world. After generating much anticipation through teaser images, the EV3 has now been fully revealed. Following the EV6 in 2021 and the EV9 in 2023, the Kia EV3 is the third model in Kia's dedicated electric vehicle lineup, playing a crucial role in popularizing electric cars. With its debut, the Kia EV3 has garnered significant attention in the highly competitive global electric vehicle market.

Outstanding Performance Stemming from Unmatched Electrification Technology

The Kia EV3, the third model in Kia's dedicated electric vehicle lineup, made its debut.

As its name suggests, the EV3 is a compact SUV within Kia's electrification lineup. However, the EV3 delivers performance that transcends its class, thanks to Kia's superior electrification technology. The EV3 is available in two models based on driving range: the Standard model and the Long Range model, both equipped with the fourth-generation high-voltage battery. The Long Range model features an 81.4kWh battery, targeting a domestic certification driving range of over 501 km on a single charge (Long Range model, 17-inch wheel).


Both the Standard and Long Range models of the EV3 house an electric motor under the hood, delivering a maximum output of 150kW and a peak torque of 283Nm. The Standard model can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.5 seconds, providing ample power for the road (based on internal measurements). Its charging capabilities are also impressive, with the Long Range model's battery capable of charging from 10% to 80% in just 31 minutes using a 350kW charger.

The Kia EV3 incorporates various aerodynamic features, such as wheel arch gap reducers and bumper spoilers, to enhance driving efficiency.

Built on the Hyundai Motor Group's dedicated electric vehicle platform E-GMP, which is adaptable to various vehicle sizes, the Kia EV3 boasts a long wheelbase for enhanced interior space and driving stability, and optimized electronic component packaging to accommodate a large battery. Newly developed aerodynamic elements also contribute to the EV3's efficiency. Covering 79.1% of the underbody with a full under cover to improve electric efficiency, the EV3 also features a wide front track, wheel arch gap reducers, aerodynamic wheels, lower bumper spoilers, and active air flaps to maximize driving range.

The front of the EV3 exudes a robust appearance with its clean surfaces and enhanced volume. The daytime running lights feature Kia's iconic star map signature lighting, while the new tiger face, combining vertical lamps with three-dimensional surfaces, highlights a strong image.

The rear of the EV3 reflects the sturdy and commanding image of an SUV. The boxy, angular shapes and surfaces exude a strong presence, while the separated C-pillar smoothly connects with the broad shoulder line for a stable stance. The tail lamps, incorporating the star map signature lighting, enhance the futuristic feel.


Practical and Flexible Interior Space Considering Customer Usability

The interior of the Kia EV3 features a modern layout and flexible functionalities.

Entering the EV3's interior, one is greeted with a minimalist layout and modern ambiance. The interior is designed to meet various usability needs of customers and can be personalized to suit individual preferences. The crash pad, characterized by clean lines and long, wide surfaces, offers a strong sense of visual space, and the intricate details throughout the interior highlight the unique charm of the EV3.

The cozy interior space is equipped with advanced features, with the highlight being the panoramic wide display. This display consists of a 12.3-inch cluster, a 5-inch HVAC display, and a 12.3-inch infotainment system, balancing functionality and usability. Additionally, a 12-inch windshield-type head-up display (HUD) allows EV3 customers to fully enjoy advanced features.

The Kia EV3 has been designed with the characteristics of a dedicated electric vehicle in mind, resulting in outstanding driving quality. Firstly, the front suspension has been newly designed to accommodate the powerful torque and low center of gravity of the electrified powertrain. The EV3 also features third-generation frequency-sensing valve shock absorbers, hydro bushings, and a reinforced cowl crossbar connecting the body and steering components to ensure a comfortable ride and excellent R&H - ride and handling - performance.

The Kia EV3 is meticulously designed to achieve superior NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) performance, even in areas not immediately visible.

Another standout feature of the EV3 is its superior NVH performance. Given the absence of engine vibrations and noise in electric vehicles, the EV3 focuses on enhancing NVH performance. Notably, sound-absorbing materials have been extensively applied to the roof, wheelhouses, cowl area, underbody, dashboard, electric motor, and inverter cover. The thickness of the glass in the first and second rows has been increased, not to mention the enhanced body joint rigidity to minimize noise and vibration.

Regenerative braking is another feature to watch for in the EV3. For the first time, Kia has applied a front-wheel-based high-deceleration regenerative braking system to improve energy recovery rates and reduce brake heat load. The regenerative braking amount reaches up to 0.3G, outperforming other electric vehicles in its class. Additionally, the EV3 features the i-Pedal 3.0 logic, a first for Hyundai Motor Group, allowing acceleration, deceleration, and stopping using only the accelerator pedal. The new logic is available at all regenerative braking levels, enhancing driving convenience and ride comfort.

Advanced EV Experience Packed with Cutting-Edge Technology

One of the most appealing aspects of the Kia EV3 is its incorporation of advanced technology. The EV3 is the first among Kia's electrified models to feature the "Kia AI Assistant," which integrates generative AI technology. This voice assistant function communicates using natural language and provides navigation, vehicle usage, travel information, entertainment, and knowledge information. The entertainment features suitable for the panoramic display also stand out. The EV3's infotainment system supports OTT services, such as YouTube, allowing users to enjoy various content on a 12.3-inch display with a Harman Kardon premium sound system.

The EV3 is equipped with numerous advanced driver assistance systems to enhance safety and convenience while driving. These include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Safe Exit Warning, Intelligent Speed Limit Assist, Driver Attention Warning, and High Beam Assist. These latest Kia safety features help ensure customers can drive with peace of mind. The vehicle also incorporates a direct grip detection system (HOD) that uses current to detect the driver's grip on the steering wheel, allowing for more convenient use of ADAS systems.

 

In addition, the EV3 features the latest connectivity equipment, such as over-the-air (OTA) software updates to improve major vehicle functions, the Built-in Cam 2 driving video recorder, and Digital Key 2, which allows access and starting the vehicle using a smartphone or wearable smart device.
