- Autonomous Parking
Hyundai Motor Group is dedicated to completing the development of autonomous driving technology
which is not only capable of urban and highway driving but also parking on its own,
with a view to providing a brand new autonomous driving experience ranging from driving through to parking.
Not only Hyundai Motor and Kia but with the expertise of our subsidiaries, such as Hyundai MOBIS and Hyundai AutoEver,
we are always dedicated to R&D efforts for autonomous technologies.
The beginning of autonomous parking, the Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA)
In March 2018, RSPA was applied to NEXO for the first time. RSPA, utilizing a Smart Key, has been developed jointly by Hyundai Motor and Kia and Hyundai MOBIS. This technology supports the driver in parking and driving-out, regardless of whether the driver is present in the vehicle or not.
After the driver disembarks the vehicle and presses the button on the Smart Key, the vehicle starts to park itself. This mode supports vertical and parallel parking alike and can be used when driving the car out.
Automated Valet Parking System (AVPS)
Hyundai Motor and Kia is developing autonomous parking technologies in order to make parking experiences more convenient.
By utilizing the autonomous driving sensors of the vehicle, this technology makes parking as convenient as a trust-worthy valet parking service.
The vehicle searches for parking slots without the driver present.
The car parks itself and can be called back upon when you are leaving, as well.
This feature may be used to recharge electric cars when necessary and move to another parking slot to make room for the next electric car that needs to recharge.
