When the functions of the interior spaces of vehicles are extended to include resting, having meetings, or even sleeping, we would expect to see many changes. And, our researchers are trying to stay ahead by developing the motions, functions and forms of these new breeds of seats.

In this brave new world, the drivers will be able to take a rest, read their favorite books, or take care of some work task inside their vehicles, creating a whole new trend in the way we live. At the heart of this new trend are the seats.
In the era of autonomous vehicles, the driver’s seat can be turned 180 degrees to arrange a meeting setup using a swivel mechanism.
Or a ‘long slide’ can be used to move the seat even further to rearrange the interior space for more storage spaces. Such outstanding changes in the mechanisms will be accompanied by lighter and slimmer seats to better utilize the interior space and move the seats around. Also, with various amenities customized for each individual passenger, the roles and functions of seats are expected to evolve to provide more comfortable resting spaces.
