Geothermal energy is highly environmentally-friendly.
While solar power or wind power is significantly affected by climate conditions, geothermal energy is available 24/7 regardless of the weather, without any environmental emissions, making it a true clean energy. Another advantage of geothermal energy is that it requires no fuel.
On the other hand, the availability of this energy is limited to certain areas and provinces. Many developed countries are trying to cope with this limitation with the aid of Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS) to commercialize this technology, which secures geothermal sources in areas without geological activities utilizing geothermal reservoirs.
Hyundai Motor Group completed four geothermal power plants in Olkaria, Kenya, to provide almost 30% of the total power demand of the whole country. This reduced power costs for the people of the country by more than 50%.
The company once again proved its technical capabilities when it completed Sarulla Geothermal Power Plants in Indonesia in 2018 - the biggest of its kind ever built.
