SEOUL, February 24, 2026 Hyundai Motor Company’s all-new ELEXIO electric midsize SUV has achieved a maximum five-star safety rating[1] from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP)

ANCAP conducts its independent assessment under testing protocols aligned with the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) standards, widely regarded as among the most rigorous and comprehensive safety evaluation frameworks in the industry. 

Under ANCAP’s 2023-2025 assessment criteria, ELEXIO demonstrated a high level of protection for adult and child occupants, as well as strong performance in safeguarding vulnerable road users.

What makes ELEXIO safe?

ELEXIO’s safety performance is underpinned by its comprehensive suite of standard Hyundai SmartSense™ driver assistance and advanced active-safety technologies. Key features include:

· Nine Airbags: A standard nine-airbag system, including a front center airbag and extended side curtain airbags for ad-ded protection.
· Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2.0 (FCA 2.0): Capable of detecting vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists and powered two-wheelers, with braking intervention support in complex scenarios such as junction crossings and reversing situations.
· Lane Keeping Assist (LKA): Lane monitoring and steering support system designed to assist the driver in maintaining stable lane positioning.
· Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA): Rear-side detection system that supports collision avoidance during lane changes through driver a-lerts and braking intervention when necessary.
· Family-Focused Safety: Precisely tuned suspension and braking performance, including Family Brake Mode, engineered to enhance vehicle stability, passenger comfort and driver confidence.
· Advanced Body Structure: a 720-degree armored body structure with 77.5 percent high-strength steel content, engineered for exceptional occupant protection.

How did ELEXIO perform in safety testing?

Under ANCAP’s independent evaluation, ELEXIO delivered:

· Adult Occupant Protection: Strong performance in frontal and side-impact scenarios, with effective structural integrity and a center airbag to mitigate occupant interaction.
· Child Occupant Protection:
‘Good’ protection for 6- and 10-year-old child dummies, with ISOFix and top tether anchorages across rear seating positions.
· Vulnerable Road User Protection:
Effective detection and response to pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists, including in complex turning situations.
· Safety Assist:
Comprehensive active safety systems, including Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Support and Speed Assistance systems, performed strongly across critical test scenarios.
