SEOUL, June 3, 2026 – Hyundai Motor Group (The Group) has been named Automaker of the Year at the 2026 AutoTech Awards, the evening's top honor recognizing the Group's leadership across connected mobility, EV innovation, safety, and design.
The award was presented at the inaugural combined AutoTech Awards and WardsAuto ceremony on June 2. Genesis GV70 3.5T Sport Prestige, recognized by WardsAuto as a 2026 Wards 10 Best Interiors & UX Award winner, was also honored at the ceremony.
This marks the first group-level recognition for the Group's technology leadership, building on Hyundai Motor America's 'OEM of the Year' awards in 2021 and 2024.
Judges cited the Group's consistent excellence, including three consecutive World Car of the Year wins, a dedicated EV platform, and a lineup that regularly earns IIHS Top Safety Pick+ awards and design accolades.
For Hyundai Motor Group, this recognition reflects a unified technology ecosystem—from shared research capabilities and coordinated software platforms to an integrated technology strategy—enabling advanced innovations across its three mobility brands: Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis.
"This award belongs to our teams. Every day, they push the boundaries of what a vehicle can be—refining our EV platform, perfecting 800-volt charging, and raising the bar on safety and design. Being named Automaker of the Year affirms that their work is being felt. And it challenges us to go further.”– Manfred Harrer, President and Head of R&D Division, Hyundai Motor Group
Building on this recognition, the Group will continue to advance the EV platform performance, safety standards, and design excellence that earned this honor—while accelerating its software-defined vehicle strategy and expanding connected mobility capabilities across global markets. This commitment reflects the Group's vision to lead the industry's transition toward intelligent and connected mobility.
